The Gmail extension

Updated 18 May 2026

If you live in Gmail all day and most of your work arrives as email, this is the integration to start with. The extension drops a Tyto button into the Gmail toolbar — one click and the email becomes a task in the project of your choice.

How to get it Coming

The Gmail extension is coming to the Chrome Web Store. While it's in final pre-release, drop your email on tyto.me/gmail and we'll tell you the day it lands.

Once you install it, the flow is:

  1. Install from the Chrome Web Store, approve the permissions (we need to read the open email to turn it into a task).
  2. Sign in with your Tyto account when the small popup appears.
  3. Refresh Gmail. The Tyto button shows up in the toolbar at the top of every email.

What it does

Open an email, click the Tyto button. A small panel slides out:

  • Title — pre-filled with the email subject; edit if you want
  • Description — pre-filled with the email body
  • Assignee — pick a teammate (or leave unassigned)
  • Project — pick one of your projects
  • Due date — set if you want

Save. The task lands in the chosen project. The original email is linked from the task so you can jump back to the source thread any time.

Multiple emails at once

Select several emails in the Gmail list view, click the Tyto button — you get the same panel but it creates one task per email. Useful for clearing an inbox into a project on a Monday morning.

In the meantime

Tyto by email is already available without the extension. Cc your team's Tyto address on any thread and new mails become tasks, replies become activity. Less polished than the extension but available today.
