The Chrome extension
Updated 18 May 2026
For when the thing you want to capture is in a browser tab, not an email. The extension lets you turn the current page, a text selection, or a batch of open tabs into a Tyto task without leaving Chrome.
How to get it Coming
The Chrome extension is coming to the Chrome Web Store. While it's in final pre-release, drop your email on tyto.me/chrome and we'll tell you the day it lands.
Once installed:
- Install from the Chrome Web Store and approve the permissions — we read the active tab only, nothing else.
- Sign in via the extension popup with your Tyto account.
- Pin the extension (optional but recommended) — click the puzzle-piece icon in Chrome, find Tyto, hit the pin. Makes it a one-click capture.
What you can capture
- The whole tab — title, URL, optional screenshot. Becomes a task in your chosen project.
- A text selection — highlight a paragraph, right-click → Save to Tyto. The selection becomes the task description; the URL is attached.
- A batch of tabs — click the extension icon, then "Capture all tabs." Each tab becomes a task. Useful when you've been researching and want to clear the browser.
Adding to an existing task
If a task already exists for the topic, you can append instead. Open the extension, search for the task by title, hit "Add to this task." The URL or selection appends as a comment.
What we don't capture
We don't take a screenshot by default — it's opt-in per save. We don't read pages other than the active tab, and we don't track which sites you visit. The extension's network calls are: sign-in to Tyto, and the explicit save you initiated.
The API and webhooks — for when you want to script it.
