Real-time collaboration

Updated 18 May 2026

When your designer moves a task on her board, you see it move on yours within a second. That's most of what "real-time" means in Tyto. Here's the longer story.

What syncs live

  • Task status changes (open, doing, done, etc.)
  • Assignment changes
  • Due-date changes
  • Project membership changes
  • Comments and reactions
  • Workflow-step transitions

In practice: if it's an update on a task or project you have open, you'll see it within a second of someone else making it. No refresh needed.

What doesn't sync live (and why)

  • Project settings changes — when someone renames a project or updates the default workflow. You see the change next time you open the project's settings.
  • Account-level changes — billing, team invites, role changes. Stable enough that real-time sync isn't worth the cost.

Working offline

Tyto's web app caches the data you've recently touched locally. Drop the connection and you can:

  • See and search tasks and projects you've recently opened
  • Edit task titles, descriptions, due dates, and statuses
  • Add comments

When you're back online, your local changes sync to the team. Conflicts are rare because most updates are field-level — if you change the title while someone else changes the due date, both wins. Same-field conflicts pick the most recent edit (last write wins).
